Biography

Born into a family of artists, Romain was immersed in a rich and demanding sound universe from the age of 4. Very early on, he chose the drums as his language of expression and joined the National Conservatory of Strasbourg, where he continued to forge his musical rigor. Beyond the instrument, it is an insatiable curiosity for art, its history and its multiple facets that drives him.

In 1998, a simple Christmas gift would change his trajectory: his parents gave him a computer-assisted music software program. The trigger was immediate. Romain took hold of the tool with disconcerting ease and launched himself, almost intuitively, into exploring sound textures, structures, atmospheres, and styles.

Very quickly, he moved from experimentation to creation and began to refine a true instinct for direction, capable of carrying a work from A to Z. Sound design for video mapping, jingles for major firms, soundtracks for films and shows: Romain composes for the image with a rare finesse. His own cinematographic productions shot during his studies were selected to represent the cinema sections of France. He frequents the most prestigious festivals: Mediterranean Festival of Montpellier, the International Meetings of Animation Cinema, Cannes Film Festival...

His musical sensitivity naturally leads him towards music for the screen, influenced as much by the classical masters as by the giants of cinema that he meets (Claude Bolling, Gabriel Yared, Alan Silvestri, Eric Serra, John Williams...). Endowed with great versatility, he studies tirelessly, trains in writing, composition, conducting and counterpoint throughout the world and begins to write for all types of formations: trios, choirs, various ensembles, chamber music, big bands, but his interest focuses on writing for symphony orchestras with which he will collaborate later, notably those of Budapest, Strasbourg and Moscow.

After his baccalaureate, a few years at university, a solid instrumental training and a quick return to the Strasbourg Conservatory to obtain his Prize, Romain took a new step: he founded Pepper Club the band, an elite collective bringing together some of the best French musicians. Under his artistic direction, the group quickly exploded onto the international events scene. Prestigious collaborations followed: Dassault, Disney, Sofitel, Nardis Jazz Club Istanbul, the Ritz, Rotana Dubai… All the group's videos, produced, directed and edited by Romain, demonstrate a keen sense and complete artistic potential.

But it was in 2018 that a decisive turning point occurred: he was urgently hired to work on a huge Disney show at the Zénith in Strasbourg. He took over as artistic director and rose to the challenge brilliantly. Performing in front of 7,000 spectators, this success marked the beginning of an adventure that continues to this day: the Disney in Concert tour.

Appointed in 2024 as composer, musician, and conductor of the orchestra for the musical "Rififi," he became its artistic director by force of circumstance. The play was a resounding success, performing 25 times to sold-out audiences. His work has been praised by his peers, including the musicians of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, whom he brought in, and at the Musical Comedy Trophies at the Mogador Theater in June 2025.

Romain is not just a composer, a performer, or a conductor. Preferring the shadows to the spotlight, he proves to be a formidable project manager capable of conceiving them in their entirety. Between his commitments with Pepper Club the band, his numerous creations, collaborations, and his personal projects, he tirelessly pursues his exploration of music and image with passion, precision, and an astonishing ability to unite talents.

This portfolio is proof of that.
